Fundamentals

  • Please use the form for all commission inquiries. If you contact me via email or DM on Twitter/Discord/etc., I cannot guarantee I will receive it, nor will I guarantee a response even if I do.

  • Unless you are a repeat client, all payment MUST be made upfront.

  • Simple audio is simple, and therefore cheaper. More complex audio takes more time, and is therefore more expensive. Please understand that these rates reflect the time and effort it takes to do the job right.

  • If your project featuring my voice is posted publicly anywhere, you must credit me for my work as either KittenVox or Kitt Nevada. A link to either this website (http://www.kittenvox.com) or my profile on the platform (almost always ‘KittenVox’) is preferred, as well.

  • Unless I have granted explicit permission or you have purchased a buy-out, you may not reuse recordings across multiple projects. If, in the future, you find yourself wanting to reuse the recordings and have not purchased a buy-out at the start, contact me and we can work out terms for additional licensing.

  • Standard voice over recordings only cover straightforward recordings made in the booth and does not include additional sound design/sound effects. Sound design may be purchased separately.

  • As the commissioner, you hold the responsibility for making sure you have the rights to the content you're commissioning me for, and that I will not knowingly accept commissions that break copyright law.

  • No refunds once payment is made.

Additional Takes, Retakes, & Pickups

I am kinda notorious for my ‘generosity’(?) with takes. For animations, video games, VNs, etc., I will do between 3-6 takes, sometimes more. This is to assure an abundance of takes at the time of initial recording, and hopefully to mitigate the need for retakes and pickups.If retakes/pickups are necessary due to my mistakes (eg., errors in pronunciation, bad pacing, misreading directions or emotion, mistakes in reading the copy), you are allowed to request one (1) full retake/recording.Revisions requested due to alterations in the script, lack of direction, indecisiveness over voice choice or personality, etc. will be invoiced again at the original rate.

My rates are ALWAYS negotiable. If you have a standard rate at which you hire VOs, I will be more than happy to consider your project based on that rate. If you have a budget you are constrained by, I’ll be more than happy to negotiate a rate that works for the both of us. Are your commissions open?

They are! (Last updated 15 October 2023)It’s a rare occasion that leads me to close commissions, and I will try to update this page when I do. Even then, feel free to fill out the form and I can add you to my queue when I’m taking them again.

What kind of commissions do you take?

You name it! If it can be done with a microphone, I can do it.Er.I mean, if it can be recorded with a microphone, I can do it!Have you written a script you’d like read? Or a comic you’d like dubbed? Have you made an animation you’d like to commission voice work for?  I also do audio books, sound design, writing, editing… All manner of interesting stuff.

What is the process of hiring you?

It looks complex, but I swear it’s easy as pie.

  • Fill out this form to the best of your abilities. Please have all materials available to send when you fill out the form!. Please provide a deadline, as well. This is vital to maintain my schedule in an orderly fashion. 🧡

  • I will review the information you’ve given me, and let you know if it’s something I have both the time and skill to accept. I’ll also provide you with an initial estimate.

  • You’re free to negotiate! But once price is agreed upon, I will invoice you via PayPal, or ask that you pay through your preferred method.

  • Once payment is received, I will schedule your recording and get it back to you before the deadline specified in the form.

  • If there is anything that requires retakes, or other issues need addressing, we’ll iron them out from there.

Can you explain the different services you offer?

  • VOICE ACTING (ANIMATION) — Is your project animated? This is for both looping and dialogue in animated content. Content is commissioned for individual projects and may not be used for additional projects without my permission. (For animators looking for content which can be reused across several animations, choose ‘SOUND LIBRARY’ and ‘BUY-OUT’)

  • VOICE ACTING (NARRATIVE SCRIPT [1000< WORDS] — This is for full narrative reads less than 1000 words, like short stories, audio roleplay, ASMR, etc.

  • VOICE ACTING (NARRATIVE SCRIPT [>1000 WORDS] — For longer narrative reads more than 1000 words like audio books, longer audio roleplay and ASMR, etc.

  • VOICE ACTING (IMPROV) — If you have a request for a recording, but you don’t have a script, this is the option to choose. Also for animators that want dialogue, but don’t have a written script.

  • VOICE ACTING (SOUND LIBRARY) — Sound libraries are generally used for interactive media, and comprise short, oft-repeated lines of dialogue or non-verbal, incidental interjections (gasps, shouts, moaning loops, etc.). Sometimes commissioned by animators as well, especially those looking for moan loops they can use repeatedly. (Buy-out fees sometimes apply.)

  • VOICE ACTING (INERACTIVE MEDIA/VN/VIDEO GAME) — For full voice acting in VNs, video games, or other interactive media. Note this is primarily for dialogue — if you’re looking for short, repeatable interjections, moan loops, etc. only, choose ‘SOUND LIBRARY.’

  • VOICE ACTING (COLLABORATION) — For voice actors looking to collaborate on an audio roleplay script, short audio drama, etc.

  • VOICE ACTING (OTHER — PLEASE SPECIFY) — Anything else not covered by the other ‘VOICE ACTING’ options. Ring tones, advertising copy, voice mail messages, you name it!

  • VIDEO SYNCHRONIZATION — In general, I return a bunch of takes in a single file. These are marked, and ready for you (or your sound designer) to integrate in pieces. But if you have a complete animation that you’re looking to synch with timestamps, so that the file is ‘drag and drop’, please check this option. (Additional fees apply.)

  • FILE DIVISION — Unless checked, you will get all takes in a single file, or divided for dialogue and sex loops. If you want the lines, loops, foley, etc. divided into specific files and named, choose this option as well. (Additional fees apply.)

  • SOUND DESIGN — Choose this option if you’re looking for full environmental sound design — viz., footsteps, music beds, weather, SFX, etc. — in addition to (or without) voice acting. Note that I only offer this for full audio at the moment, and do not design for animation or other visuals.

  • AUDITION REQUEST — If you want me to read a few lines before committing to an audition, please choose this option. A fee may apply.

  • NEW CHARACTER IMPRESSION — To request a sample of a character I have no history of impersonating. Process generally involves several rounds of takes and calibration to see if I provide an accurate enough resemblance for your tastes. A fee may apply.

  • WRITING — In some instances, I will write a script for your audio roleplay or animation. Please note I’m very selective with writing commissions.

  • SCRIPT EDITING — Before I got into VA, I was on a course in academia. If you’re looking for someone whose English is fluent, and who has a knack for making dialogue more ‘speakable’, I will gladly edit your script for you to be more punchy and fluid.

  • RUSH DELIVERY — You need it now. Yesterday. A week ago. ASAP. Rush delivery assures 48 turnaround, but costs xxx and may not be available depending on current scheduling.

  • BUY-OUT — If you want to use the audio files for more than one project (two different games, a series of animations, etc.) you’ll need to purchase licensing to do so.

Will you collaborate with me on writing or project development?

In general, no. I’ve discovered that as much as I’d like to be deeply and personally involved on every project I voice for, there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to please everyone the way I’d want. Sometimes there are exceptions to the rule? But in general, those exceptions are made for close friends only.

I pay a standard rate to voice actors. Can I use that instead of your rates?

In most cases, and provided your rate is fair, absolutely! When you fill out the commission form, just note your budget and I’ll be more than happy to discuss it.

Are your rates negotiable?

For some projects? Absolutely!For example, if you have a budget you need to work inside and feel my rates may break your bank? Feel free to contact me! I’m always glad to discuss to potential projects, and am not averse to studios/clients setting their own rates, so long as they are reasonable.Likewise, if you’re new to animation, don’t have a large following, and are looking for a few lines or sexual incidentals to really make your project spark, I’d be more than happy to discuss newbie discounts.Very large projects, or recurring roles in ongoing projects also qualify for automatic discounts. Also, if you’re a member of a specific tier on my Patreon, those come with discounts, too!

Do you accept exchange offers?

Sometimes! If you’re an artist, an animator, a writer, or other content creator, there are certainly circumstances I will consider an exchange of services in lieu of payment! Note that I’m fairly selective when it comes to exchanges, so don’t feel badly if I say no. 🧡“Exposure”, though, is something I really don’t need, nor do I consider it an acceptable form of payment.

What payment methods do you accept?

Can you voice my project for free?

No. The only exception I make to this rule is for Fallout mods that DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT OR TIPS.

My Production Process


What microphone do you use?

Mic choice varies depending on the project and the effects that will be applied in post, but most of my work for is recorded on either the Mojave 301 FET or the Sennheiser 416.The Mojave is a multi-pattern large diaphragm, solid-state condenser microphone, and it offers crisp, clean, and uncolored recordings. That’s great if you are doing a lot of mastering and mixing, but not so hot if you just want your audio ready to use from the moment you get the files. The Sennheiser 416 is shotgun interference tube microphone, and is preferable for any project where their minimal post-production work is desired, because the Senn sounds good from the initial recording, and any after-the-fact mastering just makes it sound better.Dynamic mics, like the Sennheiser MD421 MkII, create a richer, more familiar tone by excluding the higher frequencies. This results in the standard radio host tone, and can be totes useful for some projects (like audiobooks), but can sound muddy on most character work.  And ribbon mics, which are technically a kind of dynamic mic, are very cool, but can be tricky to master because of how dark the sound is, and are tetchy as fuck to record with, because the aluminum ribbon that drives them is super vulnerable to breaths and plosives.Ngl, I lloooove microphones. And I keep all of these mics in my closet, and trade them out depending on use, project, etc.For more about my studio set-up, please see xxx.

If you own a Neumann TLM 103, why don’t you use it more often? That seems like a popular mic.

It’s a great mic. But ‘popular microphones’ don’t necessarily translate to ‘good microphones.’ More specifically, it doesn’t translate to a good microphone for my voice.For my voice, the top-end of the TLM 103 is too harsh. Content recorded on it sounds tinny and requires more mastering to end up at a good final product. Which is why I rarely use it, unless specifically requested.

How do you do filtered voices for characters like GLaDOS, Jigsaw, and Darth Vader?

A magician never reveals their secrets.

What is considered additional sound design?

The short answer? Anything that isn’t a sound I make in the process of recording is ‘sound design.’So, adding footsteps would be ADDITIONAL SOUND DESIGN, but the sounds made during a slurpy blowjob are not additional sound design.

What Safe for work projects have you done?

A lot. I was a SFW actor long before I got into NSFW, so I’ve read for political ads, TV commercials, AAA games, in-house corporate presentations, mainstream audio drama, awards ceremony narrations, audiobooks… you name it, I’ve probably done it. Given the nature of NSFW work, however, I cannot offer specifics unless you have a VALID reason for needing my legal name. In which case, please contact me, plead your case, and we can discuss why you’d require that information.

What is your natural accent?

It’s a combo platter of Western American regionalism known as a ‘Jello Belt’ accent that’s common in parts of Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. Combine wide, vaguely east coast vowels, a rejection of the letter ‘t’ if it occurs in the middle of a word, a little cowpoke twang, and the speed of Southern California, shake well, and there you go. I’ve worked hard to get rid of the twang, but sometimes it sneaks in and I’m sorry.

What other accents can you do?

K, so there’s a different between pulling an accent and doing it well. The accents I can comfortably say I do well include:

How did you get into NSFW Voice acting?

Accidentally? My very first NSFW job was ‘Sunny’ for PinkTailStudio’s unreleased Dark Ministry. I kinda flitted around after that, dabbling in NSFW as I found projects that interested me, but it wasn’t until RedMoa cast me as the ice-blonde dommy mommy in his Scarlet videos that I got realized how fun and rewarding NSFW could be. After that, I fell into Yuki: Space Assassin, an on-going erotic audio drama, and I’ve been kicking over furniture in NSFW ever since.

Can you give me help get started in voice over?

Unfortunately, no. Mentoring newbies is something I don’t take lightly, and I simply don’t have the time (nor the skill) to do it right.

Do you have any tips for aspiring voice actors?

Not really? If you have specific questions, though, you can ask me on Tumblr, in Discord, through my Patreon, or at CuriousCat. I will try to answer questions as I can.

Can you recommend a microphone to me?

Please, for the love of Pete, if you’re an aspiring voice actor, or a VO looking to upgrade from a USB microphone, don’t take what I use as an endorsement that you should use these mics, too. Mics are exceptionally personal. You don’t need a Neumann U-87 or a Telefunken M80 to be a good voice actor and produce good audio. What you need is to DO YOUR RESEARCH. Which is a boring answer, I know, but trust me here.Figure out your voice type, listen to other actors who have a similar voice type, and see what they use. Or go to a music shop, and ask if you can test the mics. You usually can. Figure out what works for you. I promise you’ll be happier in the end.If you’re new to VO, though, and can’t commit the time to do some solid research, I’ll always recommend starting with an AT2020. It’s fairly cheap, sounds good, and will carry you a long way with the right sound treatment in your space.

Ick. I know. Legelse. Kind of makes you want to vomit, amirite?Unfortunately, these are very necessary, and please be sure to read them carefully before requesting an audio commission, or using one of my downloadable audio libraries.

Minimum Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years of age to commission me for any project, including safe for work (SFW) content.By engaging with me in any way, you attest to the fact that you are of age to consume adult-oriented content.In other words, you must be at least eighteen years old in order to commission me, communicate with me, or download my content. NO EXCEPTIONS. If, during the course of a commission, you give me reason to suspect you are a minor — eg., you don’t have access to a standard payment method, or your interactions strike me as those of a minor — I will block you and report both my suspicions and your username to other adult voice actors.This is draconian by design.

Usage Authorization

The Client acknowledges and agrees that all privately commissioned voice recordings provided by me are strictly intended for use within the scope of the initial project, as defined and agreed upon between both parties. Any additional use, including but not limited to commercial or non-commercial distribution, is expressly prohibited unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Any commercial or non-commercial distribution (including, but not limited to resale, sharing, gifting, repackaging, reuse, etc.) is strictly prohibited unless previously negotiated. By agreeing to these terms, you agree to inform all individuals handling commission files, including engineers and third-party distributors, of all licensing limitations put forward in these terms.The Client shall not, under any circumstances, transfer or provide the voice files to any third-party distributor, agency, or individual not involved in the initial project without obtaining my prior written consent. This prohibition extends to both commercial and non-commercial distribution channels. The Client acknowledges that all voice recordings provided by me remain my exclusive intellectual property. No rights or licenses, express or implied, are granted to the Client beyond the scope of the initial project, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

Credit

Content MUST be credited (either to KittenVox or Kitt Nevada). Where possible, I ask that you provide a link to either my Twitter page, Blue Sky profile, personal page, or my profile on whatever website the content is posted. I’m almost always ‘KittenVox’, but if you have issues unearthing the right profile to credit, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Payment

All payments for commissioned services provided by me are invoiced upfront, prior to the commencement of work. This policy ensures a transparent and efficient transactions, and because I’m notoriously bad at remembering to invoice after-the-fact.For large projects (in excess of $500), alternative payment arrangements can always be considered. In such cases, I may, at my discretion, invoice half of the total project cost at the outset, with the remaining balance due upon project completion. Any such arrangements will be mutually agreed upon and specified in the project proposal or invoice.

Delivery & Storage

All finished files are hosted on Google Drive. Upon completion and delivery, you will be provided a link where you can download the file. If you would prefer a different method of delivery, please note that in the Commission Form.I agree to retain all voice recording files for a period of one (1) year from the date of completion of the initial project. After the initial one-year period, I reserve the right to delete or dispose of all voice recording files at my discretion, without further notice to the Client.It is the sole responsibility of the Client to make redundant copies of all voice recording files to safeguard against potential data loss. I am not liable for any loss or damage incurred due to the deletion of files after the initial one-year period. The Client acknowledges and agrees to waive any claims or demands against me for loss or damage to voice recording files that may occur after the initial one-year storage periodPLEASE DOWNLOAD YOUR CONTENT AND MAKE REDUNDANT COPIES TO INSURE AGAINST DATA LOSS.

Blacklisted Content

I try my very best to keep an open mind about the content I voice, but some topics tread boundaries that I am simply uncomfortable voicing.A lot of these are pretty standard, and my allowances If you have questions regarding my blacklist, and whether or not your content ‘fits’ into one of the blacklisted categories, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

  • Underage (this includes characters that are visually or emotionally childlike).

  • AI / machine learning

  • Hateful content (anything that glorifies racism, homophobia, etc.).

  • Scat.

  • Extreme gore and violence

Concerning AI

My voice is my livelihood.Therefore, I do not consent for my voice, recordings, or any other audio materials provided to the client be used for the purpose of training artificial intelligence (AI) models. Furthermore, any entity associated with the client is prohibited from utilizing my voice, recordings, or any other audio materials provided for training or improving AI algorithms or models, whether for commercial or research purposes. In no way is the client, or any representative of the client, granted license for any project involving AI generated voice projects. This licensing is retroactive, and includes all recordings made prior to the rise of AI voice generators.

Credit Removal

I reserve the right to request the removal of my credit from any production if it is determined that the Client has violated the terms of use as specified herein. Failure to comply with my request for credit removal may result in legal action, including but not limited to seeking injunctive relief, monetary damages, and any other remedies available under applicable laws. In addition to legal action and in the event of noncompliance, I reserve the right to issue DCMA notices to major platforms to ensure the removal of the production in question, or any infringing materials, from public distribution or display.

Commission acceptance & Respectful Conduct

I maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding verbal abuse or written harassment, including pressuring, disrespectful communication, bullying, doxing, disregard of established boundaries and terms, as well as any violation of consent or withdrawal of consent from any clientele. I retain the unequivocal right to decline any commission, at their discretion, for any reason. This decision will not be subject to negotiation or challenge.

Protection of client privacy

I am deeply committed to upholding the privacy and dignity of every client. Any information shared during the commission process, including personal details, preferences, or sensitive content, will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. This commitment extends to all communications, files, and materials exchanged between the Client and myself unless permission is otherwise granted.

Refund Policy

You are receiving a digital product. Once work on the files have commenced, the purchase is not eligible for a refundOne (1) revision is automatically included with each paid commission to account for errors in pronunciation, mistakes in the reading, or file damage. Additional revisions will be made at my discretion. Revisions not covered by this clause include script changes, alterations delivery direction, and any adjustments to voice type made by the Client after initial calibration, including tone, accent, or pitch. If the Client changes their mind about my inclusion in a project after the files have been delivered, no refunds will be considered.

No Liability for Technical Issues

It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure they have the necessary technology, software, and knowledge to download and use the content provided in this commission. Outside of file corruption, I am not liable for any technical issues experienced by the Client in the process of receiving the file.

Enforcement & Remedies

I reserve the right to take legal action against any breach of these terms, including seeking injunctive relief and monetary damages. In the event that any provision herewithin is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
